James is a member of the National Union of Journalists, The Press Photographers Association of Ireland and The British Press Photographers Association.

Born in Limerick in 1976. Studied fine art at LIT. Began his is photographic career at the Press 22 news and sport photo agency in 1998. 6 years later James moved to Sydney Australia to work with the Cumberland Newspaper group as a staff photographer and freelanced for Australian Associated Press until 2007 when he returned to Ireland.
Currently James is working on a book project about Irish alternative horse culture and a portrait series from the Liberties area of Dublin.
